Weathercock House is steeped in racing history having previously been home to equine stars including three Grand National winners and two Cheltenham Gold Cup Winners. We have 79 orginal boxes in the 3 separate square yards and 1 brand new American barn with 22 boxes. There is also ample turnout consisting of 20 individual turn out paddocks. Other facilities include horse weighing scales, horse walker, heart rate monitors and access to a salt water equine spa.
Weathercock House also boosts a private 3.5f oval excercise ring. Based at the foot of the Lambourn Jockey Club Gallops on Mandown we have unlimited access to a vast range of different gallops. Ranging from a flat 8f gallop to a steep uphill 4f gallop, all on the best artificial surfaces. They also include some beautiful grass gallops, which are spectacularly maintained by the Jockey Club.
In 2019 a new american style barn has been built at Weathercock House. It houses 22 horses and also includes a wash down box and storage area. All the stables are fitted with rubber matts both on the floors and walls and the wash bay is fully padded. The front part of the stables have been designed with grills from top to the floor. It was built with the help of The European Agricultural Fund For Rural Development to support and facilitate buisness growth and job creation at Weathercock House.
Here at Weathercock House our fantastic facilities are not just for the horses. There is a lovely purpose built owners room to entertain guests where Richard and Lizzie are the most generous hosts.
Patrick MacEwan is Richards Assistant Trainer, Dan Bonner is our Head Person, Frankie Amatt is our Travelling Head Girl, she overseas all the race day operations. In the office we have the Racing Secretary Rose Osborn and book keeper Becky Ward, both are always available for any inquiries you may have. We also have an excellent team of stable staff including very capable riders, four apprentices and three yard men. Lots of work goes on behind the scenes to get the horses to the racecourse, credit must go to everyone that works at Weathercock House Stables.
